Mixed Media, Hand Embroidered Cards

Course Details

Print your own papers and fabric using gelli printing, marbling and fabric paints, then have fun collaging them together and embellishing with hand stitch to make some lovely, unique greetings cards. Join me for three weeks of relaxing experimentation and creativity, to make a whole range of beautiful backgrounds, which we will then cut, stitch, layer and embellish to make into cards, gift tags or boxes. First we'll spend time exploring different types of printing including gelli printing using patterned rubbing plates, marbling and using fabric paint to create a gorgeous "stash" of materials, which we can use for our backgrounds. There will be lots of opportunity for glitter and sparkle, as we get to grips with Angelina fibres and foiling, both of which can produce some amazing effects! Finally, we'll spend time cutting, arranging, stitching and embellishing. We'll play with adding beads, sequins and hand embroidery stitches as the finishing touches. You will create a range of gorgeous and unique cards, gift tags or embellishments for bags or boxes, in this perfect introduction to mixed media stitching. This course is suitable for all levels of experience, from complete beginners to those with more experience. You will need to bring a small selection of A5 size pieces of plain fabric and paper to print on and a few plain cards to decorate, but all other materials will be provided, along with tea, coffee and biscuits.
