Course Details
Learn the wonderful art of fabric weaving! Inspired by the colours and textures of the landscape , I will show you how to use scraps of fabric to make a beautiful woven background, also incorporating printed papers as well as textiles. Have fun selecting colour and texture and then rip and tear into strips to build up a woven background. Print your own papers to integrate into the piece and learn how to add in extra pieces, such as raffia, twigs, or even feathers! Once our background is made, we will then spend time embellishing with some gentle hand stitching; learn how to integrate couched threads and interesting textures with lots of one-to-one help and demonstrations of different stitches. These backgrounds are beautiful to embroider into and once you've learnt the technique, can be used as the basis for all sorts of different creative projects. Create a unique piece of work which could be framed, or perhaps used as the cover of a sketchbook, or made into a small purse. Price includes all materials, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.

The full fee must be made upon booking to secure your place. If you are unable to attend the workshop and it’s more than 3 weeks in advance of the start date, then I will send a refund to the original payment source. If cancellation is within 3 weeks of your workshop, I am unable to offer a refund unless I can fill your space, or the course is cancelled. Refreshments will be provided free of charge (tea, coffee and biscuits). Most materials are usually provided free of charge (unless otherwise stated), but any additional requirements will emailed to you in advance of the course.
