Print and Stitch with Autumn Leaves - Eco printing and beyond! Autumn is the perfect time to experiment with natural processes using plants and fabric, and the leaves themselves are so inspiring with all their beautiful colours and shapes! Come and join me for a magical weekend of printing and stitching using Autumn leaves, in this unique and inspiring workshop! The workshop includes: - Eco printing - Rust dying - Simple, natural dying using tea to stain fabric - Gelli printing - Fabric weaving - Hand embroidery and simple appliqué techniques Day One Learn the art of eco printing! This is a natural process of transferring the patterns and outlines of leaves onto fabric, by a technique of wrapping and steaming. You'll be working with a range of different leaves and mordants, which we can experiment with and see what exciting results occur. It's science meets art and so fun and exciting! In addition, we'll also try out some simple dying using tea and rust, to create some gorgeous markings and subtle Autumnal colours. In the afternoon, we'll be doing some gelli printing - again using real leaves, flowers, grasses and seeds. We'll create a beautiful stash of fabrics which we can use to make a finished hand stitched piece the following day. Day Two On Day two, you'll be introduced to the art of fabric weaving, which is a beautiful way to create texture and colour and to create an interesting background for hand stitching. I'll show you how to add on appliquéd pieces using our leaf prints, integrating them with vintage fabrics such as antique lace, or other natural fibres. Enjoy cutting out, arranging and then hand stitching to make a gorgeous small piece. Finally, I'll show you how to add some metallic elements using foiling, which works wonderfully with the "antique" feel of printed leaves. Suitable for all levels of experience, enjoy an unusual and creative weekend on this unique workshop, with lots of one to one help and tuition in a small, friendly group. Note: Most materials will be supplied, but you will need to bring some pieces of fabric to print on and some leaves from your local neighbourhood!
