Course Details
Join me to study the shapes, colours, outlines and patterns of Springtime flowers and leaves, to cut out and create appliquéd shapes, which we will combine to make a beautiful hand-embroidered piece on a felt background. Learn the technique of raw edge appliqué, as we observe the structures of flowers and leaves and how these can be abstracted into simple shapes, which can be cut out and pieced together to build up a beautiful picture. We'll consider how to use negative space and look at contrast and colour as a way of creating a successful composition. Once we have created our flower composition, practice and learn some simple hand embroidery stitches to enhance and compliment your appliquéd pieces. You will create a beautiful and unusual piece and come away with lots of ideas for future works. Spend a relaxing day hand stitching and learning some new techniques in this friendly and experimental workshop. Price includes all materials, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.
