How would you like to join me on a fun and exciting, weekend embroidery and mixed media workshop, that introduces you to a range of textile art techniques? This extended two day workshop will explore all sorts of surface design methods to create your own beautiful backgrounds. We’ll then use this stash to cut up and collage, before experimenting with even more fun materials such as foiling and using marker pens, puff paint and pigment pencils. Finally, we’ll add some hand stitching, to create some gorgeous small pieces. Workshop Itinerary Day 1: • Fabric painting to create some beautiful, bright backgrounds. • Marbling on to fabric and paper. • Gelli printing using your own hand made stamps. • Experimenting with a range of media such as using marker pens, puff paint and pigment pencils on fabric. Day 2: • Cutting and arranging shapes using raw edge appliqué to build up pattern and composition. • Learn how to make stencils for foiling to add some bling! • Embellishment and hand stitching, such as couching and beading. • Create a series of beautiful abstract pieces which could be framed, used for card making or turned into a fabric book. Come and play and experiment in this fun and relaxing weekend workshop, as I guide you through my unique process of creating beautiful backgrounds, which could be used in any number of projects. Enjoy learning some new techniques and unexpected ways of mixing things up, as you immerse yourself in the pleasure of shape and colour! This really is a weekend “retreat” as you have two whole days to experiment and explore in the wonderful world of textile art! The workshop will be held in Sandham Memorial Hall, near Pulborough, with access to a kitchen, lovely outdoor space and plenty of parking, with tea, coffee and biscuits on tap! You will need to bring some small pieces of fabric and paper to print onto, but all other materials are provided.
