Gelli Printing with Masks and Stencils Come and learn all about this new take on gelli printing! A gelli plate is a soft silicone plate that you cover with acrylic paint and then press various objects into, such as stencils, stamps or natural materials, to create a unique pattern. It's a really simple way of printing and can be used with either paper, or smooth fabric of any kind (so can create a very interesting background to stitch into). Suitable for beginners, or those new to printing, it is an easy and accessible way to create some amazing patterns or simple pictures and is so fun and addictive! In this new and unique workshop, you will learn how to design your own stencils or "masks" which can be cut out and used on a gelli plate to make some stunning prints. I will have a range of designs (such as birds, foliage or mushrooms) for you to choose from, or you could bring your own simple motifs to use as a stencil. Learn how to build up layers of paint to create beautiful compositions using your chosen shapes. We'll also be looking at ways to create amazing background textures using stencils, simple stamps made from household items, or foraged leaves and foliage. I have been experimenting with some different techniques and can't wait to share my secrets with you! You can print onto either paper or plain fabric (so long as it has a smooth surface). Fabric can then be used as a unique background to add some stitching in to, or perhaps made into in a small item such as purse, or a hand made card. Expect to produce at least several finished small prints, which could be framed as beautiful small pictures (as well as a range of papers or fabric for use in your stash). Note: Please bring some small A5 pieces of paper or fabric with you to print onto. All other materials are provided, plus tea, coffee and biscuits.
