Would you like to try your hand at gelli printing, but are not sure where to start, or would you like some practical tips to get you going and give you confidence in this wonderful technique? If so, then come and join me for a great morning learning all about the basics, in a small friendly group with lots of one to one help and advice. We'll begin by looking at the basics for gelli printing - what the best practice is for applying paint and the key to getting successful prints. Next we'll try out a range of techniques, looking at the different things you can use to make prints on a gelli plate. We'll try out some house hold textures, such as bubble wrap, cardboard, and pressing different objects into the painted surface. You'll be amazed at the range of fantastic prints you can get, just by using simple everyday objects. The technique is so fun and simple, with instantaneous results! Next, we'll move onto using real leaves and foliage to create the most stunning prints. These give you incredible detail, with beautiful effects. Learn how to build up layers of paint and overprint to create sophisticated backgrounds. You will leave with a whole range of different samples, which can be used as collage papers, for card making, or could even be framed as artworks in their own right. If you choose to print onto fabric, this could be further embroidered into and used as the starting point for a really unusual piece. You will need to bring some approximately A5 pieces of smooth, white paper or fabric to print onto. All other materials are provided, including tea, coffee and chocolate biscuits!
