Experimental hand embroidery workshop - fabulous feather stitch and more! Suitable for beginners, or those with some experience, come and join me for a relaxing experimental hand embroidery workshop. Would you like to learn all about how to use the fabulous feather stitch and all the beautiful variations you can make with it? Over the day, we'll begin with mastering the basics and looking at some of the "standard" stitches you can create, such as closed and double feather stitch. Then next, we'll be asking the question "what happens if...?" For example, we'll try out different weights of thread and see what happens if we overlap them or distort the stitch, changing the scale, direction, length and width. Next we'll look at how, with the addition of other stitches, such as french knots or detached chain stitch, feather stitch can be transformed into all sorts of beautiful botanical designs. Hand embroidery really lends itself to depicting flowers and nature and with feather stitch you can create all sorts of variations on abstract plants and foliage. Come and join me to find out how! Spend the day playing and experimenting and add to your repertoire, to create a lovely hand embroidered sample piece, which you can use as inspiration for future projects. All materials provided, plus tea, coffee and biscuits, on this fun, friendly and relaxing day.
