Join me in my cosy studio for some gentle hand stitching, to make a beautiful "memory" scroll. Maybe you have some textile pieces that you've inherited from a loved one or that have been passed down from a relative? There's something very special about reworking pieces that have been stitched or worn by those who came before us, or as a way to remember a family member, and this is the perfect project to breathe new life into precious scraps or embellishments. Or maybe you like the idea of using vintage materials such as lace, old tablecloths or buttons? If so, this is the course for you, as I have many pieces in my stash that will be available for you to use. We'll begin by building up a background of small pieces, which we'll hand stitch onto a "scroll" made from an old woollen blanket. Each week we'll focus on one or two new embroidery stitches, or types of embellishment, as we slowly add to our scroll, gradually building it up to make a beautiful background full of detail and richness. Take time for yourself, in a small, friendly group to make a beautiful and precious keepsake, which could be passed down as a gift, or kept as a lovely stitched memento.
