Print and Stitch with Autumn Leaves - Eco printing and beyond! Autumn is the perfect time to experiment with natural processes using plants and fabric, and the leaves themselves are so inspiring with all their beautiful colours and shapes! Come and join me for five weeks of play and discovery in the studio, including some simple natural dying using tea and rust, making our own brushes from natural materials to mark and print fabric, and trying out some eco-printing using real leaves and flowers. The first two weeks will be spent printing and marking our fabric to create a "stash" of materials which we can then use to create some beautiful sample pieces, looking at a different technique each week. The following weeks will focus on creative ways of using these materials, to make some beautiful sample pieces, using hand stitching and collage. Firstly, we will spend time making some stitched collaged and appliquéd pieces using our leaf prints and integrating them with vintage fabrics such as antique lace, or other natural fibres. Enjoy cutting out, arranging and then hand stitching to make some gorgeous small pieces. Next, we'll be doing some fabric weaving, which is a beautiful way to create texture and colour and to combine your printed fabrics with other materials. Finally, I'll show you how to add some metallic elements - gold leaf and foiling, which works wonderfully with the "antique" feel of printed leaves. Suitable for all levels of experience, enjoy five weeks of relaxation and creativity on this unique course, with lots of one to one help and tuition in a small, friendly group. Note: Most materials will be supplied, but you will need to bring some additional small pieces of fabric to print on and some leaves from your local neighbourhood!
