Autumn Stitch Retreat - Inspired by Autumn Leaves - Printing, Marking and Stitching Autumn is the perfect time to experiment with natural processes using plants and fabric, and the leaves themselves are so inspiring with all their beautiful colours and shapes! Come and join me for for an Autumnal "mini break" with two whole days of play and discovery. Treat yourself to an immersion in creativity and experimentation in a friendly and unique extended workshop, with the beautiful Autumnal leaves as our inspiration. Day 1: Eco Printing and Rust Dying Fabric The first day will be spent trying out a variety of techniques to mark, stain and print our fabric. Using real leaves and flowers, we will begin with eco printing onto fabric, to create some beautiful samples with incredible detail. We'll also do some simple natural dying using tea and rust to create some amazing textures and colours. In the afternoon we'll begin to look at our pieces and consider ways of stitching into and collaging them to make a beautiful composition. Day 2: Making Natural Brushes to Print and Mark Fabric Have fun making brushes using natural materials such as seed heads, leaves and twigs to mark and make patterns onto fabric and paper. We'll then add these to our stash from Day 1 and spend time using these to make some stitched collaged and appliquéd pieces. The workshop will be held in the peaceful venue of Sandham Memorial Hall, near Pulborough, with access to a kitchen and plenty of space for parking outside, with tea, coffee and biscuits on tap! A small equipment list will be send to you beforehand, some materials will be provided, although you will need to bring some additional small pieces of fabric with you to make your samples.
