Confidence in Colour! Ideas and tips for selecting colour schemes for your textile projects. Do you struggle selecting colours to put together for your textile projects? Or do you feel stuck in a rut with your colour choices and would like some new inspiration and ideas for choosing colours? Many people find it hard to get to grips with using colour, but the good news is, it's really very easy to make confident decisions, once you understand a few basic concepts. I love working with colour and drawing on my previous experience as a graphic designer, but with ideas developed especially for textiles, I've put together a comprehensive workshop which will teach you the tricks of the trade. Plus we'll look at easy ways to find inspiration and get started with successful colour schemes. Get to grips with using a colour wheel! We'll start by looking at how to use a colour wheel - what exactly are analogous or complementary colour schemes? How do you use light, tone and shade to make your work really "pop"? But it's not all theory - there'll be lots of lovely hand stitching activities along the way for a relaxing and inspiring day. Learn how a colour wheel works and the principles of design, to help choose an effective colour scheme for your embroideries, quilts or other textile art projects. Gain confidence in understanding how different colours work together to create lively contrasts or pleasing harmonies and how adding dark or light can alter how colours appear. Use nature as inspiration and create some hand stitched colour palettes. As well as looking at colour theory, we'll be using different prompts as inspiration, including the natural environment. Relax with some hand stitching to experiment with building up colour palettes, to make some beautiful small samples. You will leave with new ideas, a greater understanding of how to interpret colour in your work and a series of inspiring colour swatches and samples for use in your future projects. Price includes all materials, plus tea and coffee. Come and learn in a small, friendly group on this fun, inspiring and relaxing workshop.
